District Court Log: March 1 and 2, 2011

A wrap-up of court activity.

WAKEFIELD – The following cases were heard in Fourth Division District Court:

  • Heidi Ann Hollis, 25, of 469 Farmington Ave., Cranston, pleaded no contest to a North Kingstown police charge of driving while intoxicated, second offense. She was ordered to serve 20 days home confinement, followed by 345 days of probation and a 345-day suspended sentence. She was also ordered to pay a $400 fine and unspecified assessments, to surrender her license for a year and to undergo alcohol abuse treatment. A hearing will be held on March 15 to determine if Hollis is eligible for home confinement.
  • Richard Matteson, 37, of 655 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, was found guilty by a judge of a North Kingstown police charge of resisting arrest. He was ordered to serve a one-year suspended sentence and a year of probation, and to attend anger management counseling. An additional charge of disorderly conduct was dimissed on Feb. 17.
  • Vaughn Avedisian, 55, of 332 Chestnut Hill Road, South Kingstown, pleaded no contest to a North Kingstown police charge of possession of marijuana. He was ordered to make a $200 donation to the Violent Crimes Indemnity Fund, and the charge will be filed for one year. An additional charge of driving in possession of a controlled substance was dismissed in return for his plea.
