5 Things: Turbine Moratorium, Planning Commission Chair & Tonight's School Committee Meeting

Today's five essentials.

  1. Last night, the North Kingstown Town Council extended a moratorium on wind energy systems. The moratorium, which was set to expire on July 10, will be extended an additional 90 days. Check back later for the full story and what may be in the new wind energy ordinance.
  2. The council also decided to delay the reappointment of Planning Commission Chair Richard Pastore until its next meeting. Though his term expires on July 1, he has agreed to stay on as chair until a decision is made at the July 11 meeting. Check back later for more on this, too.
  3. The North Kingstown School Committee meets tonight at 7 p.m. at . The committee will elect a new chair (following the announcement by Richard Welch that he would be stepping down from that position), look to finish up the upcoming budget and the discuss the use of Davisville Elementary School, which has been closed for the past academic year.
