Two local men are facing myriad charges after an early-morning argument on the side of Post Road.

North Kingstown Police charged John Cornelius Becker, 32, of 7255 Post Road, North Kingstown, with disorderly conduct and weapons law violations after he allegedly pulled out a machete during an argument with 27-year-old Andrew R. Rossi, of 100 Apple Tree Court, North Kingstown.

And Rossi is facing charged of simple assault and disorderly conduct after he allegedly attacked Becker and punched him repeatedly, though nobody suffered any injuries in the incident.

Police said they were dispatched to the area of 7260 Post Road near the old treatment center at around 1:30 a.m. and saw two men arguing. One of the men was Becker, who was carrying the machete.

According to a police report, Becker told police he owns the apartment complex across the street and he was walking the grounds when he heard yelling across the street.

Becker reportedly said he was concerned, so he went to investigate and found Rossi, who began yelling at him.

Becker then said Rossi started attacking him and because he felt threatened, he began to back away and drew the machete to keep his distance.

Becker then said Rossi kept hitting him but the strikes weren't hard enough to cause any real harm.

Both men were arraigned and released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

This is the same Mr. Rossi who crashed into the rock while he was driving under the influence.... Someone needs to keep an eye on that young man.
