The third-highest ranking state police officer and head of the police training academy has resigned over an inappropriate relationship with a candidate to become a trooper, Col. Steven O'Donnell announced Friday.
Lt. Col. Wilfred Hill, a 22-year veteran of the force, reportedly had a relationship with a 23-year-old woman. His job duties included overseeing "overseeing the state police training academy, sheriffs, capitol police, fire marshal and the emergency telephone system," wjar.com reported.
Hill, who had been placed on administrative leave earlier this week, reportedly has been granted a restraining order against the woman, whom the Providence Journal identified as Salome Hackney, of Providence. Hill's two-year relationship with the woman reportedly turned violent.
