Sheehan Seeks Another Senate Term

Sen. James C. Sheehan is seeking another term representing Rhode Island Senate District 36.

Senator James C. Sheehan announced Monday that he will be running for re-election to the State Senate in District 36 (North Kingstown and Narragansett).

"I still have more work to do to make our state more economically competitive, transparent and efficient as well as ethical.  Specifically, I will work tirelessly to restore the Ethics Commission's jurisdiction over the General Assembly and will continue to improve our business climate to reduce unemployment in our state," he said in a statement.

Reflecting on the past two years, Senator Sheehan highlighted his sponsoring the centerpiece legislation to overhaul the Economic Development Corporation (now called the RI Commerce Corporation) and sponsored legislation to bring increased accountability and transparency to other state quasi-public agencies.  Further, Senator Sheehan also successfully advocated lowering the corporate income tax rate from 9% to 7% and enhancing the state's training and outplacement services for residents seeking employment opportunities.
