UPDATE: Police Searching for Suspect in Attempted Robbery

North Kingstown police are investigating an attempted robbery at Bank of America Tuesday night.

A suspect in an attempted robbery at is still at large, according to police.

An unknown suspect attempted to rob a woman as she made a night deposit at the bank's drive-thru at around 8:14 p.m. Tuesday, according to Lt. Paul Barry of the North Kingstown Police Department.

According to Capt. Steven St. Onge, the suspect threatened the woman and hit her in the head with his firearm. The victim started screaming and beeping her car horn as the suspect attempted to take the deposit. Hearing the commotion, a father and son – who were walking a dog in the area – went to the woman's aid. St. Onge adds that the assailant was "probably spooked" and fled in a white sedan heading southbound on Post Road, only taking the woman's keys and cell phone. Though the witnesses and victim were unable to identify the make and model of the vehicle, they believe there was some sort of bike rack on the back of it.
