According to reports, an alert neighbor called police after a car she had never seen drove down her road without its headlights on and parked in front of her neighbor’s house on Charles Street just after 3 a.m. Two people, wearing all black, got out of the car and began walking up the road, going up several driveways.

Officers arrived in the area and located the Kia Soul. According to reports, the car was unlocked and police found the wallets of its owners in the center console. After checking the vehicle’s registration, the officers discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen in South Attleboro that day. Police found the car’s keys and took them for safekeeping.

Meanwhile, other officers combing the area found several cars had been entered and their glove boxes had been opened. While searching for suspects, a sergeant saw two suspects run into the wooded area between Hunts River Drive and Davisville Road.

The sergeant was able to run down and catch one of the suspects after the 16-year-old Pawtucket man crashed into a wooden fence and then rain into another wire fence before falling on the ground. The other suspect ran into the woods. After thoroughly searching the area, police were unable to find him.

According to reports, the 16-year-old teen had several items on him that he admitted he stole from cars in the area. He also allegedly told police he was unaware that his accomplice had been planning to steal from cars that evening. According to reports, the other suspect asked him if he wanted to “make some quick money” and then drove him to North Kingstown. He told police he has never been in trouble before and had never done anything like this before.

The teen identified his accomplice, whom police believe may be a family member.

Due to the age of the offender, police have not released his identity. He faces the following charges –  two charges of injuring/tampering with vehicles, larceny, obstructing an officer in the line of duty and a felony charge of possessing a stolen vehicle.
