6:09 a.m. – Police arrested Matthew Joseph Baynard, 24, of West Allenton Road, for not registering as a sex offender after police learned of his residence in North Kingstown. According to a Massachusetts woman, she met Baynard online and had begun an relationship but terminated it after she learned of his offender status. She said he continued to contact her, which is why she contacted police in her town of Swansea, Mass. Baynard had been living in NK for two weeks, according to the Swansea woman. Routine checks turned up a extraditable felony warrant out of Virginia for failing to register as a violent sex offender.

4:04 p.m. – A resident of the South County Nursing Home on Oak Hill Road told police she was missing $186 from her wallet. She said she had counted it on Saturday in preparation for the hairdresser and a trip to Walmart today. She said she keeps the wallet locked in a drawer in her nightstand. The resident keeps the key on her person at all times, but police discovered the lock is a universal type, in which the same key can open all the locks.

10:44 p.m. – Police arrested John A. Verma, 19, of Apple Tree Court, for possessing alcoholic beverages and marijuana after he was stopped while driving south on Post Road because he did not have his headlights on. He told police he didn’t realize they weren’t on. Because police smelled marijuana, they told Verma they would be searching the car. He told police he had marijuana in the car and gave them a glass container containing what looked to be marijuana. The search turned up some more marijuana as well as a bottle of amaretto liqueur. Police issued a court summons for the alcohol possession and a citation for the marijuana.
