North Kingstown Police identified the man who died after a car he was working under on the side of West Allenton Road as 54-year-old Craig Flynn of Quaker Hill, Conn.

Police said officers tried to free Flynn from under the car after they responded to the scene at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, but were unable to remove the car.

Crews from the Fire Department were able to raise the vehicle with airbags.

The initial investigation shows Flynn used a jack to raise the car and was attempting to make repairs to his BMW when the car slipped off the jack, pinning him.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
