It turns out North Kingstown is pretty darn safe, compared to the rest of Rhode Island. NK rates as the state's fifth least violent community, according to data compiled by GoLocalProv from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program. Only Portsmouth, East Greenwich, Richmond and Little Compton had less violent crime per capita.
In 2012, North Kingstown (population 26,371) had nine total violent crimes:
Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter: 0
Forcible rape: 3
Robbery: 1
