NKPD: Woman Throws Drink, Ends Up in Clink

A witness told police that Michelle Canfield, 42, threw a drink at a man after an argument at Kingstown Bowl.

A North Kingstown woman faces a parole violation after local police charged her with domestic assault following an incident on June 29.

Officers arrested Michelle Lee Canfield, 42, of 6101 Post Road, on just before midnight after a Narragansett man said Canfield had shoved him and thrown a drink onto him after an argument at Kingtown Bowl.

North Kingstown Police Patrol Ofc. Timothy Daly said he and Lt. John MacCoy spoke with the victim and a witness who said Canfield had screamed at the victim before dumping the drink on him.

Daly wrote that he then went to Canfield's home and found her sitting on the front step.

According to Daly, Canfield 'refused to provide details of the incident.'

Officers presented Canfield for arraignment on June 30 before Justice of the Peace Stephen Pelletier on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Members of the state Attorney General's office also filed a parole violation against Canfield, and she was ordered held at the ACI until a July 1 hearing in Third District Court.

At the time of her arrest, Canfield had been serving six months' probation ordered by Judge Pamela Woodcock-Pfeiffer after Canfield pleaded no contest to a charge of disorderly conduct on May 7. Canfield had also entered a no-contest plea on May 9 to a separate domestic disorderly charge.

Following the July 1 hearing, Canfield was released on surety bail. She is next due in court on July 9 for an ability to pay hearing on the first charge, and on July 11 for a pretrial hearing on the latest charge.
