NK Sees Second Fatal Motorcycle Accident This Week

A second fatal motorcycle accident in North Kingstown has taken the life of a Coventry man.

A Coventry man is dead following the second fatal motorcycle accident in North Kingstown in less than a week.

Clifford White, 51, of 147 Arnold Rd. in Coventry was pronounced dead after an accident on Post Road. North Kingtown police and fire departments responded to scene (7446 Post Rd. in the parking lot of Perfect Nails) around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses say White was driving his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Post Road when he lost control, leaving the roadway and striking a fire hydrant which caused the bike to split in two.

White was treated at the scene by emergency responders and was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital's trauma unit where he passed away shortly after arrival.

The accident is still under investigation by the North Kingstown Police Department, though speed has been determined as a contributing factor. White was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

White was the owner of on Arnold Road in Coventry.

. Richard Bishop, 27, was wearing a helmet at the time of his accident but was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. Speed also appears to be the primary factor in Bishop's accident.
