NK Police Make Five DUI Arrests over the Weekend
The following arrest information was provided by North Kingstown Police. They do not indicate convictions.
North Kingstown Police were busy arresting drunk drivers over the weekend.
On Sunday, police charged Randy Michael Dobbins Jr., 20, of 70 Lucas Road, Warwick, with driving under the influence after he was observed crossing over the dotted center line twice on Post Road at around 2:45 a.m. by an officer on patrol.
Police said Dobbins failed a field sobriety test and registered blood alcohol readings of .105 and .106 in two separate breath tests. He was also cited for a lane roadway violation.
Earlier on Sunday, at around 1:05 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a Honda CRV cross the fog line on Tower Hill Road near Shermantown Road and exceed the speed limit.
The driver, identified as Richard J. Pepe, 49, of 52 White Oak Court, Wakefield, reportedly said he had a drink with dinner in Jamestown at a friend's house but the officer noticed a stamp on his wrist that indicated he was at a bar or nightclub.
Pepe reportedly failed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving under the influence, first offense and refusing a chemical test.
At 1:30 a.m. on Monday, police charged Thomas E. Campbell, of 125 Lincoln St., North Kingstown, with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test after he was stopped on Sachem Road after an officer on patrol observed Campbell driving erratically and not using a turn signal.
Police said Campbell failed a field sobriety test and was also charged with refusing a chemical test.
On Sunday at 8:33 p.m., police charged Kyle David Barry, 19, of 150 Palace Ave., Warwick, with driving under the influence, refusing a chemical test and underage possession of alcohol after he was reportedly involved in a crash on Hornet Road.
Police said Barry allegedly struck two cars parked on the side of Hornet Road before coming to a stop on a front lawn.
At the scene, Barry reportedly refused medical treatment and blamed the crash on his car's transmission. But police said Barry was drunk and failed a field sobriety test.
According to a police report, Barry became combative as police tried to take him into custody. He did finally calm down when he was warned that police would use pepper spray if he didn't settle down.
A search of Barry's car revealed an unopened can of MIller lite in the front passenger seat area and an empty bottle of Bud Light in the back seat.
In addition to the DUI, refusal and underage possession charges, police cited Barry with failure to maintain proper control of a motor vehicle, lane roadway violations and operating a vehicle without proof of insurance.
On Sunday at 7:55 p.m., police charged Laura Elizabeth O'Donnell, 44, of 31 Allard St., Warwick, with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test after was stopped for speeding 51 mph in a 30 mph zone on Tower Hill Road.
Police said O'Donnell failed a field sobriety test and later refused a chemical test.
