NK Police Log: Woman Charged After Stealing Kitten

The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Michelle Lee Canfield, 42, of 6101 Post Rd., Unit 15 of North Kingstown was arrested April 29 at 11 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct.

Canfield allegedly stole a kitten from an acquaintance. She reportedly admitted to police that she stole the feline, telling officers the man was a “scumbag” and “shouldn’t have cats” when they visited her home. She and the homeowner both allegedly gave officers permission to search the home for the cat, but Canfield began to yell at the man accusing her of stealing the kitten when she realized he was parked down the street, according to reports. She yelled at police despite their warnings as officers continued to search for the cat. An officer allegedly found the 4-week-old kitten hiding behind a dresser. After Canfield allegedly flipped off the man and cursed at him, police put her under arrest for disorderly conduct.
