NK Police Log: Two Cases of Shoplifting From Walmart

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Erwin Hamilton Robinson, 45, of 413 Pine Street, Apt. 5 in Providence was arrested Sept. 24 at 2:15 p.m. on shoplifting charges.

A Walmart employee reportedly watched Robinson remove several DVDs from their cases and hide them on himself. He also hid women’s clothing and a toy truck in his jacket and pants and left the store. He was confronted in the parking lot by the employee and returned to the store.

According to reports, Robinson told police, “What else can I say? I took the stuff and got caught.” In total, the value of the stolen goods was about $100.

After a background check, North Kingstown police found that this was Robinson’s fourth shoplifting charge since 2010. He faces a felony charge of shoplifting and an additional misdemeanor as a habitual shoplifter. He was brought in for arraignment the following morning as a probation violator.

Kelly Michelle McDonough, 43, of 5 Waites Corner Rd. in South Kingstown was arrested Sept. 27 at 6:17 p.m. on charges of shoplifting from Walmart.

An employee allegedly monitored McDonough via surveillance cameras and allegedly saw her place several items of merchandise in several canvas bags in her cart. McDonough reportedly left the store without paying for any of the items and was confronted outside the store. She agreed to come back into the store and was escorted to the store’s office.

McDonough allegedly told employees that she was leaving the store to get her wallet to pay for the merchandise, but one employee noticed that her purse and wallet were already on her. The total value of the stolen goods, 74 items in all, was about $467.

NK Man Facing Two Felonies in Alleged Break-In 

Robert Alan Dolan, 4, of 25 New Lexington Rd. in North Kingstown was arrested Sept. 28 at 1 a.m. on charges of domestic disorderly conduct and felony charges of domestic assault and domestic breaking and entering.

Dolan allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home uninvited and began screaming at her. According to reports, he grabbed her by the wrist and arm and pulled her into a hallway. When police arrived after Dolan had left, they noticed that the victim had bruises on her arm. One of the couple’s children, who lives with the victim, reportedly witnessed the assault as well.

Crystal Millie Vasquez, 23, of 1700 Main Street, Apt. B5 in West Warwick was arrested Sept. 25 at 3:05 p.m. following a bench warrant for her arrest.

Niel A. Riess, 28, of 567 S. County Trl., Apt. 323 in Exeter was arrested Sept. 26 at 10:27 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.
