State Police Arrest Two Men Suspected Of Stealing From Home Depot

According to police reports, a Home Depot employee saw who police believe to be Burns acting suspiciously in the store. The employee, along with the store manager, followed Burns as he exited the building through the rear lumber entrance in the backside of the store. The employees stated that Burns met a car that was about 10 feet outside of open door waiting for Burns. When the two confronted Burns, he banged on the passenger side door and yelled, “Give me the knife!” The driver, believed to be Pafume, handed Burns a five- to six-inch blade knife, which Burns repotedly displayed in a threatening manner.

During his interview with North Kingstown police, Burns alleged he left the store through the rear exit after he saw two men yelling at him and heading in his direction. Burns also alleged it was just a coincidence that Pafume was waiting for him right outside the rear entrance. (Pafume stated in his interview that Burns had called him on his cell phone and told him to meet him at the rear entrance, according to reports.) According to Burns, he told the men he had a knife but denied ever holding it. Burns allegedly told officers he stole the merchandise because he had been out of work since December and is in need of money.

Pafume is charged with eluding police and possession of stolen goods while Burns is charged with possession of stolen goods and resisting arrest, according to the State Police. North Kingstown police charges will be forthcoming.

NK Man Charged With Domestic Assault

Keith Henry Silva, 38, of 126 Pendar Road., Apt. 4, was arrested March 4 at 1:08 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.

Police received a 911 call from Silva’s residence in which a male asked for an ambulance because he had just been involved in a domestic disturbance. The caller canceled the ambulance and hung up before speaking with dispatch.

When police arrived, they were greeted with a woman who claimed she had just been in a physical altercation with Silva. The woman was trembling and had a large welt on her forehead, according to police. When the woman told police Silva had punched her, he stated, “She hit me. I called 911.”

According to the woman, the argument began when Silva arrived home at midnight after being out all night. Silva, however, stated he returned home at 9 p.m. and claimed that the woman attacked him without provocation. Silva denied laying a hand on the woman, but could not explain the welt on her forehead nor why the engine of his car was still warm if he had been home since 9 p.m.
