NK Police Log: Long Time Coming, DUI & Stolen Bike

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Assault Was "A Long Time Coming" 

Eric Ebright, 18, of 54 Sandra Drive in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 17 at 8:45 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Ebright reportedly head-butted, punched and bit a man after an argument about a chess set left on the staircase. According to police reports, Ebright purposefully left the set there. He also allegedly told police that the altercation was “a long time coming.”

 

Man Uses Fake Facebook Account to Violate No-Contact Order

Charles Anthony Oberg, 36, of 61 Dayton Ct. in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 17 at 3:25 p.m. on a felony charge of violating a no-contact order.

Oberg allegedly created a fake Facebook account under the name “Joe Collie” and messaged a woman who was protected by a no-contact order against him. According to reports, the woman believed that the man was Oberg due to the nature of their conversation. Though “Joe” allegedly denied that he was Oberg, he told the woman he would drop off his key to the car at her place. According to the woman, only Oberg had a spare key to the car.

After the prosecutions division reviewed the case, Oberg was arrested a few weeks later in Jamestown.

Exeter Man Charged With DUI 

Kevin J. Langton, 62, of 79 Lantern Ln. in Exeter was arrested Aug. 18 on charges of drunken driving and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Langton was pulled over in North Kingstown near Gregg’s Restaurant after an officer allegedly saw him swerving. Langton reportedly told police he had three beers that evening at the Ocean Mist in South Kingstown. After failing his field sobriety test, he was placed under arrest and brought to the North Kingstown Police Department where he refused to take a chemical test.

NK Teen Allegedly Steals Bike

Jeremiah Sayee Zarty, 18, of Angel Avenue in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 19 at 1:01 a.m. on charges of larceny.

A Lenox Court resident called police after discovering that her son’s bicycle had been stolen. A North Kingstown police officer found two teenagers (one of them Zarty) with the bike at the intersection of Intrepid Drive and Post Road. According to police, Zarty admitted to stealing the bike and was placed under arrest.

At headquarter, Zarty allegedly told officers that he was walking on the bike path behind Lenox Court when he saw the bicycle and decided to take it so he could get home. He added that he didn’t know who owned the bicycle, but he had a friend who lived in the area.

Other Arrests...

Joseph Scott Howell, 28, of 7255 Post Rd., Apt. 8 in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 15 at 11:20 p.m. following a bench warrant for his arrest. He was also cited for possession of marijuana. 

Thomas Ray Fagan, 26, of 1626 Main Street, Apt. 4 in West Warwick was arrested Aug. 19 at 2:34 a.m. following a warrant for his arrest.
