NK Police Log: Kohl's & Walmart Shoplifting

Coventry Woman Charged With Shoplifting From Kohl's

Sheila Marie Hillman, 30, of 46 Patton Street in Coventry was arrested March 18 was arrested 4:15 p.m. on charges of shoplifting from Kohl’s.

Police received a call from a Kohl’s employee who reported that a woman was attempting to shoplift. When police arrived, they saw the woman exit the store and the employee confront her. She woman, identified as Hillman, allegedly told the employee, “I’ll give them back. Please don’t have me arrested.”

According to reports, Hillman had hidden several stolen shirts underneath her own shirt while changing in the fitting room. Police also found two more shirts and a set of bracelets in her purse as well as a pair of stolen sunglasses on her head. In total, the merchandise stolen was valued at $148. As a bail violator (Hillman had been arrested in September 2012 on felony drug charges), she was held overnight and arraigned the following morning in Third District Court.

Samantha M. Schein, 19, of 310 Hamilton Allenton Road in North Kingstown was arrested March 20 at 6 p.m. on charges of shoplifting and conspiracy.

Employees at Walmart reportedly were monitoring Schein and a 15-year-old woman enter the deodorant and cosmetics aisles, allegedly removing UPC tags from items and hiding them in Schein’s purse. The pair then grabbed several other items, which they paid for, before leaving the store. A Walmart employee confronted the women outside the store, where the two allegedly admitted to shoplifting. In total, the women stole $66.40 worth of merchandise.

NK Woman Allegedly Brought Drugs to Court 

Vanessa L. Villegas, 24, of 65 Dean Ave. in North Kingstown was arrested March 20 at 6:15 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and a felony charge of narcotics possession. While on duty at the North Kingstown Municipal Court, an officer allegedly found marijuana in a glass jar and a bag of cocaine in Villegas’ purse.

Kelly  J. Lamarre, 19, of 14 Lea Drive in North Kingstown was arrested March 19 at 11:50 p.m following a bench warrant for her arrest.
