Johnston Woman Sees Felony Charges Over False Rx

Kasandra Coates, 27, of 8½ Cottage St. in Johnston, was arrested last Tuesday on felony charges of using a false prescription.

On Feb. 4, a pharmacist at CVS called police after Coates allegedly gave him a suspicious prescription for Oxycodone with a section covered by whiteout. The pharmacist called the doctor’s office and found that the prescription was supposed to read “to be filled on 2/7/11” and not 2/04/11, which was what was written.

On Feb. 22, Johnston police picked up Coates at her home following a warrant for her arrest.

Coates is set to appear in Fourth District Court on March 8. When the pharmacist told Coates he could not fill the prescription, she left the store.

Gansett Woman Battles NK Officer After Vehicle Stop

Simone Viana Grieco, 42, of 318 Colonel John Gardiner Road in Narragansett,was arrested Feb. 23 at 11:51 a.m. on charges of obstructing an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Police pulled over Grieco on Route 4 after alledegly clocking her speed at 70 mph in a 50-mph zone and witnessing her fail to use her turn signal on multiple occasions, according to police reports. When police approached Grieco’s car, she demanded to know why she had been stopped, reports indicate, and said the officer must be mistaken.

After Grieco reportedly refused to give police her documents, police advised her that she’d be placed under arrest for obstructing. Grieco then allegedly yelled, “Let’s do it! Arrest me!”

As police tried to handcuff her, Grieco allegedly began to kick and tried to pull away from police. After a brief struggle, which motorists driving on Route 4 slowed to witness, police were able to arrest her. Once in the police cruiser, Grieco proceeded to scream for approximately five minutes, according to police reports.

She is set to appear in Fourth District Court on April 5.

NK Man Arrested Following Argument Regarding Stolen Cigarettes

Glenn Williams, 22, of 620 Devils Foot Road, was arrested on Feb. 23 at 8:19 p.m. on charges of domestic disorderly conduct.

Police responded to a disturbance at Williams house. According to Williams, he was upset because someone has been stealing his cigarettes over the past five months.

He is set to appear in Fourth District Court on March 8.

EG Teen Arrested For Possessing Alcohol

Shane Hulstyn, 18, of 95 Rector St. in East Greenwich, was arrested Feb. 25 at 3 a.m. on charges of underage possession of alcohol.

Police allegedly clocked Hulstyn at 78 mph in a 50-mph zone and pulled him over. Police saw Hulstyn make “several furtive movements” and found a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer behind the driver’s seat, reports indicate. Hulstyn alleged that he was borrowing his father’s car and didn’t realize the alcohol was in there. Later, Hulstyn acknowledged that a friend bought the case for him but would not identify the friend, according to reports.

Hulstyn is set to appear in Fourth District Court on March 8.

NK Man Breaks Cat Food Container In Domestic Scuffle

Samuel Richter, 20, of 75 Oak Hill Road, was arrested Feb. 25 at 10:15 a.m. on charges of domestic assault, disorderly conduct and vandalism.

Police responded to Richter’s home for a domestic disturbance after Richter allegedly became angry after a male family member was unable to drive him to a friend’s house. According to the man, Richter spit on him and started kicking items in the kitchen, breaking a five-gallon, plastic cat food container.

NK Man Arrested After Driving Into Hussey Bridge

Sean Kearns, 22, of 29 Cherokee Lane, was arrested Feb. 26 at 2:26 a.m. on charges of drunken driving, driving in possession of a controlled substances and possession of drug prescribed to someone else.

Police responded to a reported single-car accident near the Hussey Bridge on Brown Street to find that Kearns’ car had struck the side of the bridge barrier and sustained heavy damage. Kearns was bleeding from the nose and complained of rib pain. While speaking with Kearns, police noticed that he appeared to be under the influence, according to reports. Kearns told police he was returning home from the Red Parrot in Newport where he had “a few drinks.” Kearns also allegedly told police he had “half a gram” of marijuana in the center console of his car. While searching the vehicle, police found a plastic baggie with small blue pills (Xanax) and a glass smoking device.

After failing the field sobriety test, Kearns took a portable breath test and allegedly blew a 0.183 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

At headquarters, Kearns’ blood alcohol reportedly tested at 0.186 percent and 0.180 percent.

  • Ryan Bruskie, 24, and Terry Bruskie, 24, of 561 Lafayette Road, were arrested last Monday following bench warrants for their arresst. Both were transferred to the ACI for processing.
  • Tara Bevans, 23, of 79 Hoxie Road in Richmond, was arrested Feb. 24 at 9:37 a.m. on charges of driving on a suspended license. Bevans is set to appear in Fourth District Court on March 8.
  • Jonathan Laplume, 19, of 58 Essex Road, was arrested Feb. 25 at 5:59 a.m. following a warrant for his arrest.
