Car Reported Stolen From Dealership
A Chevrolet pickup truck on sale at was reportedly stolen over the weekend of Aug. 24. According to reports, the key to the vehicle in the dealership’s inventory was not missing. Police did not find any broken glass where the vehicle was on display nor any other signs of forced entry.
Family Feuds at Filippou's
Georgia N. Filippou, 68, of 670 Ten Rod Rd. in North Kingstown was arrested Aug. 25 at 9:03 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
Filippou allegedly assaulted a female family member at on Ten Rod Road. According to the victim, the argument was over bills. Filippou had allegedly told the woman that she shouldn’t take tip money because it should be going back into the business.
According to reports, the argument escalated and Filippou allegedly shoved the woman and pulled her hair. (Police noted that the victim had several scrapes on her body from the assault and presented officers with the clump of hair that had been pulled from her head.) According to witnesses, Filippou tried to throw a cordless phone and a small spatula at the woman. Additionally, Filippou threatened to stab the woman with a steak knife she was holding.
'I Got Your Nose'
Ann Kathleen Matoes, 42, of 15 Saw Mill Dr., Apt. 203 in North Kingstown was arrested Aug 25 at 2:35 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
Matoes allegedly arrived at her father’s barbershop on Post Road and began yelling at him from outside. According to witnesses, she was yelling about her dog that she had left with her parents. A male family member went outside to prevent Matoes from entering the shop out of concern for her father’s safety. According to reports, Matoes began yelling at the man, poked him in the nose repeatedly and punched him in the right shoulder. When the man called police, Matoes allegedly fled the scene. She was found at her apartment on Saw Mill Drive shortly after.
Benjamin Rollie Gardner, 29, of 415 Shore Drive in North Kingstown was arrested Aug 26 at 12:06 a.m. following a warrant for his arrest.
