NK Police Log: An Odd Case of Indecent Exposure at Kohl's

The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Indecent Exposure Allegedly Caused By Itchiness

An employee at Kohl’s in North Kingstown called police to report a Chinese man was behind a display in the men’s department and appeared to be masturbating. The man was still in the store when police arrived a short time later.

Police took the 31-year-old man into the store’s office to talk to him and, once inside, the man allegedly began to sob and fell to his knees. He also reportedly began bowing to one of the officers and started to slap himself, apologizing and begging the officer for forgiveness.

Due to the fact that the man did not speak English, police called Pagoda Inn for a translator. Over the phone, the translator was able to relay that the man admitted to exposing himself in the store, but denied masturbating. According to reports, he said the motion they saw on the surveillance cameras was not masturbation but due to extreme itchiness in this genital area.
