Police Arrest Man Hiding in Closet

Matthew Dallaire, 25, of 17 Hornet Road, was arrested Jan. 20 at 1:09 a.m. on charges of domestic disorderly conduct and domestic refusal to relinquish a phone.

Dallaire got into an argument with a woman at their home, allegedly punching a hole in a wall (which he apparently did quite regularly, according to the woman, and as evidenced by multiple holes in walls throughout the residence) and chasing her around the house as she attempted to call police. According to reports, Dallaire took both the woman’s cell phone and the house phone to prevent her from calling the police. Dallaire returned the woman’s phone before taking off in his pickup truck, according to statements.

After searching for Dallaire, police found his truck hours later back at the residence with footprints leading into the house. Officers allegedly found Dallaire hiding in a narrow closet on the second floor of the home.

He is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on Feb. 7.

Air National Guard Busts CT Man on Pot Possession

Philip L. Brown, 31, of 101 Old Windsor Road in Bloomfield, CT, was arrested Jan. 20 at 8:11 a.m. on charges of possession of marijuana.

Police responded to the Rhode Island Air National Guard base in Quonset after employees stated that the driver of a vehicle entering the base to do electrical work was in possession of marijuana. When Brown and his passenger pulled up to the vehicle inspection station, a staff sergeant smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, the staff sergeant allegedly found a baggie with a small amount of marijuana inside a coat pocket. According to police, Brown freely admitted to officers that both the coat and marijuana belonged to him.

NK Man Hit With DUI After Falling Asleep at the Wheel

Richard Cavanaugh, 56, of 190 Earle Drive, was arrested Jan. 20 at 11:24 p.m. on charges of drunken driving and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Police allegedly found Cavanaugh’s car in the middle of Hamilton Allenton Road with Cavanaugh “slumped” over the wheel. According to reports, an officer tried to rouse Cavanaugh by banging on the window and yelling loudly. When that didn’t work, the officer — fearing for Cavanaugh’s wellbeing — used a window punch tool to enter the vehicle from the passenger side door. Once inside the car, the officer allegedly had to put the car from drive into park. (Cavanaugh’s foot was on the brake pedal.)

After several minutes of the officer trying to talk to him, Cavanaugh finally awoke. Cavanaugh allegedly told police he did not remember how he got at this current location. According to reports, Cavanaugh was uncooperative with rescue personnel, refusing medical attention and refusing to take a field sobriety test or a Breathalyzer.

After being placed under arrest, Cavanaugh repeatedly asked who “smashed out” his window and where his car was while en route to the police station. Cavanaugh was later transported to South County Hospital after he told officers that he believed he was having a heart attack.

He is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on Feb. 7.
