EG Woman Hits Two Cars In Parking Lot, Charged With DUI

Denise Collins, 61, of 56 Spring St. in East Greenwich, was arrested last Sunday on charges of driving under the influence.

Police arrived to the parking lot of Kingstown Bowl for a reported multi-car accident. Collins had allegedly collided with a 2003 Nissan, then backed up and collided with a second car. When officers arrived, Collins told them her car had slid on some ice. Police saw no ice in the area near the accidents, according to reports.

Collins was brought to headquarters after reportedly failing her field sobriety test. Her blood alcohol content was tested at .197 and .217 in respective tests, police said.

Collins was released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

String Of Larcenies From Cars At North End Of Town

Police responded to Brookhaven Road last Sunday morning after a string of reported larcenies from motor vehicles overnight last Saturday. Multiple cars on Brookhaven Drive, Peachtree Road and Spring Road were broken into and all had items stolen from them. Police believe the break-ins began on Peachtree after finding stolen items discarded on Spring. One neighbor told police he saw two white men dressed in dark clothing walk toward the dead end on Spring at about 11:30 p.m.

 

Man Assaults 7-Eleven Clerk Over Temperature Of Soda

Robert Sprague, 62, of 6 Esmond Ave., was arrested last Monday at 11:59 p.m. on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.

Police responded to 7-Eleven on Post Road for an alleged assault on a 19-year-old employee. The employee told police that a man pulled him over the counter, then fled, heading southbound on Post Road. According to the employee, the altercation began when Sprague verbally abused him regarding a “lack of cold soda in the cooler.”

Police stopped Sprague on Post Road near Intrepid Drive.

 

Pants On The Ground

Douglas Davidson, 48, of 888 Ten Rod Road, was arrested last Monday at 2:03 a.m. on charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Police responded to the area of Tower Hill Road and Boone Street for a reported intoxicated man with his pants around his ankles. When officers made contact with the Davidson on Phillips Street they found him naked from the waist down with no underwear on and his buttocks and genital area exposed. Officers noted that there was heavy traffic on Phillips Street and vehicles were slowing down with onlookers creating a traffic backup.

According to police, Davidson was “extremely intoxicated and could barely walk.” Davidson was transported to South County Hospital for treatment.
