Neighborhood Sees Five Car Break-Ins In One Night

Some North Kingstown residents won't have their GPS units to guide them this weekend after a string of thefts.

While driving through the neighborhoods off of Newcomb Road, police were flagged down by a resident who wanted to report a robbery from her car. The victim stated that she had parked her car on the street in front of her house the night before and had left the car unlocked. When she went to her car in the morning, she found it had been entered and several items had been stolen, including a GPS unit and her husband’s wallet with his credit cards, drivers license, social security card and other items.

The same day, police responded to another report of a car break-in. This victum stated that she had also parked her car on the street in front of her house and had left it unlocked. When she went to her car in the morning, she noticed that it looked as though someone had rummaged through her vehicle, going into the center console and also the glove box. The victim stated a GPS unit had been taken from the car.

Police also responded to report of a skateboard being taken from another neighbor’s car at some point during the night. The car was parked next to the driveway on the grass and was not locked. 

Also in the area, another neighbor reported that, at some point during the night, his unlocked vehicle was entered and a Sony Portable CD player was taken.

The victim’s roommate reported to have also had her unlocked car parked on the street in front of the building. According to reports, someone entered her vehicle and stole a GPS unit and a pair of Prada sunglasses. 

The stolen items are totaled at $1,245.
