Captain Thomas Mulligan will be sworn in as North Kingstown's newest police chief at tonight's Town Council meeting. Mulligan has served as the department's acting police chief since the .

Mulligan, who began as a reserve patrol officer for the department in 1984, has spent his entire career with the . He's served as a captain for the department since 2005 when he was promoted from the detective division. He is also a longtime resident of North Kingstown, graduating from in 1980.

Tonight's council meeting will be held at the at 7 p.m.
