Man Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy To Distribute Cocaine

Adilson A. Reyes, 29, of Utah, plead guilty Thursday to conspiracy to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine in a case stemming from a January drug bust in North Kingstown.

Reyes waived indictment in U.S. District Court in Providence, appearing before Judge Mary M. Lisi, according to a joint release from the US Department of Justice and RI Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 15.

Reyes was one of three men arrested in January after federal, state and local law enforcement agents, working with the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, began investigating the trafficking of cocaine from outside Rhode Island into the state in September. Investigators monitored activity at hotels in West Greenwich, Pawtucket, and a storage facility in North Kingstown.

On Jan. 29, federal, state and local law enforcement agents executed search warrants, seizing 65.07 kilos of cocaine, $1,245,070 in cash and a firearm from two vehicles and a storage facility in North Kingstown at 376 Dry Bridge Road.

On Wednesday, a federal grand jury returned an indictment against two co-defendants, Armando Saucedo, 30, and Andrew Rios, 39, both of California. The men were indicted on charges of conspiracy to possess five or more kilos of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of five or more kilos of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of the drug trafficking crimes.
