Jamestown Police Arrest 11, Including 4 From NK, In Drug Sting

Jamestown police arrested 11 people Wednesday morning in a South County drug sting, including several in North Kingstown, according to a release issued by the Jamestown Police Dept.

Members of the Jamestown Police Department executed several search warrants and street raids in Jamestown, Newport, North Kingstown and West Greenwich and at the University of Rhode Island. Wednesday's police activity was the culmination of a five-month investigation in which an undercover Jamestown police officer purchased cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs from various dealers. Police from North Kingstown, West Greenwich and URI assisted in the arrests.

Of the the 11 people taken into custody, two were juveniles from Jamestown. One juvenile, a 14-year-old boy, was charged with one count each of distributing cocaine and marijuana. The other, a 16-year-old boy, was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana.

The suspects' ages range from 14 years old to 49.

The adults who were arrested and the charges made against them are as follows:

• James Chamberlain, 18, Jamestown: Two counts of marijuana distribution
• Kenneth Hughes, 41, Jamestown: Possession of heroin
• Mary Bennett, 45, Jamestown: Two counts of prescription drug distribution
• James Dean, 20, North Kingstown: Two counts of marijuana distribution
• Kelsey Pagliuca, 20, North Kingstown: Conspiracy to distribute marijuana
• Makeil Nunes, 19, North Kingstown: Two counts of cocaine distribution
• Michael King, 21, North Kingstown: Two counts of marijuana distribution
• Ricky Thomas, 49, Newport: Two counts of cocaine distribution
• Peter Yates, 33, West Greenwich: Two counts of marijuana distribution

All the adults were transported to 2nd District Court for arraignment, while the two juveniles were transported to Family Court in Providence for arraignment.
