Identity Thieves Send Victim Thank You Flowers

Identity Thieves Rub Salt in Wound… A 45-year-old Narragansett woman recently reported to police that Bank of America had due to suspicious account activity. The bank told her that about $2,400 had been charged. If that wasn't bad enough, the woman told police that the thieves had arranged for flowers to be delivered to her home address. The flowers contained a card that said, “thnx for ur money.”

Car Fluid Trail Leads the Way… Johnston Police were called to an intersection this week after a receiving a . When they arrived, police found the car was no longer there. But what was there was a “steady trail” of automotive fluids on the road leading from the tree onto Winsor Avenue. The officers followed the fluid trail almost 2 ½ miles until it led to a red Subaru Forester. Police found a man standing outside the vehicle, but he told officers that he was not the driver and would not reveal who it was. “I am not a rat,” he allegedly stated. The man was issued a summons for not cooperating with the investigation.

Police Cruiser Look-Alike… A Johnston man was recently arrested after police spotted him driving along Route 4 in North Kingstown in a vehicle that . The vehicle allegedly sported two-tone paint, a siren speaker in the front grille, strobe lights in front and rear of vehicle, rear light strip in the back window, police radio, numerous antennas, the number “24” on the trunk and other features characteristic of a police cruiser. The driver admitted to police that the car was previously owned by Seekonk Police. Police said the vehicle also displayed a Fraternal Order of Police “member” emblem, a Providence Police patch emblem and a U.S. Marine Corps emblem on the rear plate. The driver reportedly did not have any direct affiliation with any of the organizations

Teen Exposes Classmate's Counterfeit Scheme... A South Kingstown teen was arrested at the high school recently after he tried to . The cause? The 18-year-old claimed the other student had “ratted him out” for making counterfeit money. The teen was charged with one felony count of passing counterfeit bills and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Focused on the Task at Hand… A Burrillville man was cited one recent morning after police between a parked car and a building. The officer turned his spotlight on the 22-year-old, but neither that nor the officer loudly slamming his car door made him stop urinating. It wasn’t until a friend who exited the business as the officer approached yelled at the man to stop. The business he was urinating on was open 24 hours and had public restrooms.

Thief Shoplifts Male Enhancement Pills... A Cranston man was recently arrested on a warrant and charged with a count of shoplifting after he from a Tiverton Rite Aid. The store's shift manager reportedly called police when he saw a man “run through the emergency exit” of the store without paying for items. In addition to the male enhancement pills, the 46-year-old also allegedly stole probiotic supplements. He was caught thanks to surveillance video that captured his vehicle registration info.
