Forest Park Elementary School was evacuated noontime Friday after a small fire near the cafeteria, according to the NK Fire Department. No one was injured and students were back in the building in less than hour.
"There was some smoke. Students were evacuated out of an abundance of caution," said NKFD Capt. Michael LeClair.
A fan motor for a heating unit was the source of the fire.
"The school department's electrician isolated the problem and they're all back in school and eating lunch," he said at 1:15 p.m. Friday.
The alarm came in at 12:08 p.m. Students were evacuated and school buses were called to provide temporary shelter.
Four engines, a ladder truck, a rescue and the duty deputy chief reported to the school, 50 Woodlawn Drive.
