Fenwick Gardiner Sworn In As New Fire Chief

North Kingstown's newest fire chief was sworn in during Monday night's Town Council meeting.

North Kingstown officially has a new fire chief. The North Kingstown Town Council swore in Fenwick Gardiner Jr. as the town’s new fire chief at its meeting Monday night.

Gardiner is a 35-year veteran of the North Kingstown Fire Department and has served as the town’s acting fire chief since the retirement of Patrick Campion last year.

Gardiner stood by with his family as Town Council President Elizabeth Dolan swore him in. Fellow North Kingstown firefighters stood in line to greet their newly-appointed chief following official swearing in.

The North Kingstown Police Department is still awaiting its new police chief after the retirement of Edward Charboneau last year. Currently, Thomas Mulligan is serving as the town's acting police chief. According to Town Manager Michael Embury, interviews for the position will begin in early April.
