Dad Calls Cops after Finding Son's Bag of Pot

The boy reportedly told police he had been smoking to relax because his "poor school grades had him stressed," according to a police report.

A 15-year-old North Kingstown boy was cited for marijuana possession after his father called police to report finding a bag of pot in his bedroom.

Police said an Abelone Road resident told police on July 19 that he found a bag in his son's room after a search.

Police noted they had been to the house after the boy was caught smoking marijuana in the house on July 6.

The boy reportedly told police he had been smoking to relax because his "poor school grades had him stressed," according to a police report.

Responding officers told the boy about the potential hazards of continued marijuana use and seized the marijuana, which weighed about ounce.

The boy was issued summons for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana as a juvenile and was issued an Aug. 1 court date.
