Body Found in Truck Identified As Cranston Man

A body found Saturday in a pick-up truck in the Gateway parking lot has been identified as a Cranston man.

The partially decomposed body of a man found in a pick-up truck parked at a North Kingstown retail center has been positively identified by the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office.

The man has been identified as David J. Murphy Jr., 39, of Cranston. The medical examiner was unable to provide an exact time of death, but it is believed he was dead for "several days" before being found. The medical examiner also states that the death does not appear to be suspicious.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, North Kingtown police responded to the parking lot of 42 Gate Rd. at . Employees of the hair salon called police after looking inside the vehicle and seeing a body lying down in the back seat of Murphy's Ford F-150.

"The car's been there for at least two weeks," said Lizz DeNuccio, who called police. "It's the only car in the parking lot when we leave at night."

No missing persons report was filed for Murphy, according to police.
