Body Found in Car Behind Wickford Gourmet

Police do not believe there was any foul play.

 

The body of a 49-year-old woman was found in a car behind Wickford Gourmet Tuesday morning, according to North Kingstown police.

When police arrived shortly after 11 a.m., they found the woman deceased in her car behind the store. According to Sgt. Eli Mulligan, police do not believe foul play was involved in the woman's death.

Based on the license information of the vehicle – a dark-colored Ford Taurus sedan – police believe the woman to be a 49-year-old Rhode Island woman. Police are still determining the identity of the woman. The matter is still under investigation.

Police responded to the parking lot behind Wickford Gourmet by one of the store's employees, Joan Rollins. According to Rollins, she did not recognize the car when she got into work around 11 a.m. and noticed it was "full of junk."

"I went up to the window and realized someone was in there," said Rollins. "I immediately called police."

Rollins said she believed the car had been there since the day before.
