Letter: Plea to Stop New Dunkin' Donuts in NK

A proposal to put Dunkin' Donuts in Wickford does not sit well with one NK resident.

If you want to get a feeling for the traffic disaster looming in North Kingstown.  Drive to East Greenwich.

At the Dunkin' Donuts at Route 1 and Route 401 (First Avenue) in East Greenwich, RI:

  •  Traffic jams happen every time the light changes – especially traffic headed north.
  •  Accidents are common - ask the East Greenwich Police for their opinion/records.

Don’t let this happen at Ten Rod Road/Phillips Street – THE most congested intersection in Wickford.

Residents should attend the hearing on the proposal on Tuesday, Nov 27 at 7 pm at town hall.

Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you Jeff, for a thoughtful, rational comment.

jeff nice info, tell us, does rolling greens comply with the spirit and letter of the NK Comprehensive Plan, or not? it seems like it cant since as you point out, a proposal which conforms to zoning (which is supposed to reflect the comprehensive plan) does not need special approval. rolling greens is bad for NK and does not comply therefore needing special track approval. the NKGOP faction that the dopey voters keep re-electing is making these things happen. the turbine was the product of a sick process, not a healthy one. but now that we've had an election, the voters (mostly the ones with NO CLUE who wear that "I Voted" sticker like it means something when they had NO CLUE who or what they just voted for) have ratified ruining our town. I stand by my original position, as painful as it is "y'all voted for these people, live with the results". and next time VOTE SMART!

Can't be worse than when that church on ten rod road lets out... We need an extra traffic light there now >:-(

Ya Lex no kidding, when that church thunders loose with all those devil-may-care drivers, that intersection turns into a real hell.

More than 10 years ago, a WMS student walking to school was hit by a car turning right on red. The student required brain surgery. That is why there is a NO RIGHT ON RED sign on the corner.....NO, NO, NO TO A DD!!!!!!!
