Get Out: Blueberries, Blessing of the Fleet & More

Have your "pick." Below are five smashing ideas for some summer fun this weekend.

Where/When: Delvecchio Farms, 302 Potter Rd., North Kingstown | Sunday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Take advantage of the mostly sunny skies predicted for Saturday and Sunday. Get outside, take in the views at Delvecchio Farms and get your family excited about harvesting a healthy snack rich in flavor and antioxidants.

Blessing of the Fleet

Where/When: Narragansett High School, South Pier Road and The Towers on Ocean Road in downtown Narragansett | Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30 from 5 to 11 p.m. and noon to 11 p.m., respectively

Why Go: The event, which began as an intercessory prayer for those sailing the high seas, has turned into a weekend affair featuring approximately 3,000 runners and hearty amounts of seafood, according to the Narragansett Lions Club website. Following the 10-mile road race, runners are invited to stay for food and entertainment at Veterans Memorial Park by The Towers. On Saturday at noon, hundreds of vessels will line up in the Port of Galilee for spectators. This is one weekend shindig you won't want to miss!

Pricing: $35/runner on race day; walkers begin Friday at 5 p.m.; runners begin at 6 p.m. To register, click here.

Newport Folk Festival

Where/When: Fort Adams State Park, Newport | Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31 at 10 a.m.

Why Go: The folk festival will feature such artists as Emmylou Harris, the Civil Wars and the Decemberists. Limited parking is available at Fort Adams State Park for $15/car during the festival. The parking lot opens at 8 a.m.

Pricing: $69/adult in advance; $77/adult on festival weekend, if available. $15 for children ages 3 to 15; children under 3 are free.

Comedy Night at the Ocean House

Where/When: The Ocean House, 1 Bluff Ave., Westerly | Friday, July 29 at 8:30 p.m. in the Seaside Ballroom

Why Go: Enjoy a night of laughter in Westerly. The event will feature comedian Ken Rogerson. Having appeared in "Fever Pitch" and "There's Something About Mary," Rogerson is likely to deliver a couple of belly-aching laughs this weekend. 

Pricing: $30/person plus a one-drink minimum

Beachcombing at Fort Getty

Where/When: Fort Getty, Jamestown | Saturday, July 30 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Marine Outreach Scientists from URI invite families to join them at low tide for an afternoon beachcomb at Fort Getty. Families will have the opportunity to learn about area plants, animals and minerals from some of URI's finest.
