Obituary: William T. Young, 86

William T. Young, 86, of North Kingstown, passed away October 2 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 28 years to Mary Ann (Baxter) Stevens-Young. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late John and Marie Young.

Mr. Young was a real estate broker for 50 years. He was the broker owner of Young Realty, Inc., in North Kingstown before retiring. He had previously worked as a revaluation consultant across the country and served as a senior appraiser for the State of Rhode Island, Board of Tax Equalization. He served as a member of the R.I. Real Estate commission for 10 years. He was a catalyst to, and spearheaded the reeducation certification for Realtors.

Mr. Young was a WWII Army veteran.

He was the loving father to a blended family, Joan Andrus of LA, Gayle Lund of Utah, Christopher Young of Warwick, Mary Ann Topp and Rebecca Moniz of North Kingstown, Bethany Lenderman of Virginia and brother to Charles Young, as well as three stepsons. He is survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, William T. Young, Jr. and brothers, John, Frank and Robert Young, and sister, Lillian Anthony.

Bill enjoyed music, especially jazz, quiet evenings and a "perfect" dry Rob Roy. He had an ingenious imagination and quick wit that kept everyone on their toes. He was passionate and protective of his loving wife as she was the light of his life. In his difficult, uncomfortable journey Home, he could still make you laugh or smile with a look, gesture or wink.

There was a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis DeSales Church in North Kingstown on October 8, followed by burial with military honors in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or The REALTOR Foundation, R.I., c/o Claudia Chappelle, 100 Bignall Street, Warwick, RI 02889, will be appreciated.
