Obituary: Thomas C. Madison, 89

Thomas C. Madison, a decorated World War II veteran, passed away on New Year's Day at the age of 89.

Thomas C. Madison of North Kingstown passed away on New Year's Day. He was 89 years old. He was husband to the late Barbara (Greene) Madison. Born in North Kingstown, he was the son of the late Harold W. Madison and Myrtle E. (Sprague) Madison.

Madison was a decorated World War II Army Veteran who earned the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge for his service in the 379th Infantry Regiment in France and England. After his service, Madison worked at Narragansett Electric Company for 38 years and as a night wrecker driver at Quonset Auto Body.

He was the Past Commander of the American Legion Post 12. Madison loved boating, shellfishing, reading and playing cards.

He leaves his two sons, Curtis Madison of Wakefield and Craig Madison and his wife Cecile of Exeter. He was grandfather of Stephanie Madison of Florida; Lauren Madison of Agawam, MA; and great-grandfather of Siena Ortiz. 

His funeral and burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford.
