Obituary: Lucille T. Bragg, 84

Former postmaster of the Saunderstown Post Office Lucille Bragg passed away this week.

The following obituary was provided by Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home.

Lucille Theresa Bragg died peacefully on April 20 at her daughter's home in Wickford, Rhode Island surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old.

Bragg was born on August 17, 1928 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Marie Brindamour and Benonie LaPerche. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Bragg to whom she was married for 53 years.

She worked for the United States Postal Service for 22 years and retired as Postmaster of the Saunderstown Post Office in 1989 before retiring to Vero Beach, Florida. During her career she was very active in the National Rural Letter Carrier's Association serving in various board capacities as well as a volunteer at Gilbert Stuart Museum. For many years she enjoyed participating in the St. Bernard Church Choir where she was a communicant along with St. John of the Cross in Vero Beach, Florida. S

She enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, golf, sewing, reading and was an excellent cook.

Bragg's true joy came from the time spent with family and friends. She is survived by two children, a daughter Cathy I. Shippee and her husband, Russell, and a son Timothy and his wife Susan, five beloved grandchildren, Erin Shippee, Kathryn Figliolini, Teal, Molly, and two great grandchildren Cameron Shippee and Aiden Figliolini. She was the grandmother of the late Christopher Shippee. 

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday April 26 at the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd, North Kingstown, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, Wickford, RI at 10 a.m. on Saturday April 27. Burial will be private.

Memorial donation in lieu of flowers may be made to either Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI 02904 or Alzheimer's Association – RI, 245 Waterman St. Providence, RI 02906.
