Obituary: Julie Swistak Maloney, 43, Beloved Wife and Mother

Julie Swistak Maloney, 43, of Saunderstown, passed away peacefully March 17, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Sean P. Maloney for sixteen years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Mark W., Sr. and Deborah (Anderson) Swistak of Jamestown.

Julie received a degree in Environmental Life Sciences and the President's Award from the University of Rhode Island. She received a Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in Marine and Environmental Sciences.
Family was of utmost importance to Julie; she loved being a wife and a Mother to her four children and was incredibly devoted to them and their well being. She enjoyed spending time with her family and making the most of every day. She had a tremendous thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader.

Julie continued to be a model for her children throughout her courageous battle with cancer, showing grace and dignity; giving strength to her family and all who knew her.

A lifelong member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, she was baptized by Bishop Higgins.

Besides her husband and parents, Julie leaves her four children, Ryan, Brett, Evan and Kate Maloney all at home; two brothers, Mark W. Swistak, Jr. and Matthew Swistak both of Jamestown; her sister, Katherine Moniz of Jamestown; and her grandfather, Walter Swistak of Newport. She was the granddaughter of the late Helen Swistak, John and Helen Anderson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Burial Office Friday, March 21, 2014 at 10am in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery, Jamestown. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 will be appreciated.
