Obituary: Ernest A. Myette, 83

Ernest Myette of Saunderstown passed away at the age of 83 last week.

The following obituary was provided by Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home.

Ernest A. Myette, formerly of Saunderstown and Jamestown, passed away Feb. 6. He was 83 years old. He leaves behind his wife, Jeannette A. (Lawson) Myette.

Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Lorette (LaFlamme) Myette. He graduated from Rogers High School and was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. A 20-year veteran of the US Naval Reserves, he toured with NATO Forces in Iceland where he served as a photographer.

A self-employed photographer, he worked for the Catholic Diocese of Providence for 25 years and also T.D. Brown. After retiring, he worked for Stop & Shop part-time.

He was a member of the Titanic Historical Society, the Titanic International Society, the Sharkhunters International and the Mystic Valley Railway Society.

Myette was a volunteer for the RI Community Food Bank for many years; and was an avid blood donor, donating where ever he traveled since the age of 17. He was a communicant of the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Community Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Lorie A. Vanasse of Richmond and Gregory E. "Willie" Myette of North Kingstown; three step-daughters; a brother, Charles E. Myette, Jr. of Warwick; and five grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ernest A. Myette, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Community Church, 84 Exeter Road, Exeter. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association Rhode Island, 245 Waterman Street, Providence, RI 02906 will be appreciated.
