Obituary: Edward Campion, 89, WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veteran

Edward Campion, USNR(Ret.), 89, peacefully passed away May 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred (Camara) Campion.

Born in New Castle, England, he was the son of the late Edward and Polly (Bulford) Campion. Before retirement, Mr. Campion worked for the Civil Service as a Planner and Estimator for Quonset Naval Air Station. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

He was a member of the retired Seabees Association and had been an assistant leader for Troop 1 Frenchtown Boy Scouts of America.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son Daniel M. Campion and daughter Margaret “Peg” Campion and her husband Richard Shayer; step granddaughters Meadowlyn and Naomi and 2 step great grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Lawrence and John Campion. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated Tuesday, May 13th at 11:00am at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Burial with military honors will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
