Fomer State Senator, Teacher, Robert T. Motherway of North Kingstown, Dies at 81

Motherway served 10 years in the Rhode Island State Senate and 10 years as a teacher in North Kingstown.

Maj. Robert T. Motherway USMC (Ret.) died at home on May 1st.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen (Smith) Motherway.  

Born in Warwick, April 26th 1933, the son of the late Josephine D. and Edward J. Maj. Motherway graduated from the US Naval Academy and took his commission into the Marine Corps where he served 27 years.

The Major served ten years in the State Senate and ten years as an educator in North Kingstown. 

Major Motherway is also survived by 8 children and several grandchildren. Calling hours at THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, Sunday May 4th from 5-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 5th, at 10 am in St. Bernard Church, Wickford.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
