The Pear paintings
address both the subjective and venerable nature of the female form. They are
part of a series that has metaphorically delved into what it means to have a
desirable or repulsive, elusive or available body. Using
the produce bag, I have alluded to the issues of ownership, of servitude and of
suffocation. With the tissue I explore desire. In both cases I try and capture
the beauty of light on translucent form. The Pear series is intended to
represent a woman’s experience of her physical self and celebrate organic
beauty.

The Wave paintings
are inspired by the power and mystery of water. I am an open water swimmer.
When I am out away from shore in deep ocean water there is the seemingly
dichotomous sense of peace, and insignificance: of who I am falling away to expose what I am. Being immersed in the large,
powerful and beautiful ocean has a spiritual resonance with me, as if my
body, made of salt water, is reunited and again one with its forbearer.
The Animal series is
simply about our love of and connection with our domestic animals.
