Introduction to Drawing 8 Week Class

Instructor: Elaine Gauthier

Date & Time: May 1st-June 19th. Thursday Afternoons from 1pm-3pm
Members: $60 Non-Members: $100

Class Description: Have you always wanted to draw, but were afraid to try? Or maybe you are a painter that wishes to improve your drawing and composition skills... 

In this class, student's will receive comprehensive instruction in drawing, using the pencil as a drawing tool. Students will learn how to use lines to create the illusion of space, and the instructor will review linear perspective, the study of value, observational drawing, as well as color and color mixing.

The instructor's goals and objectives:
To create a non-threatening environment that promotes confidence in the beginner drawing student.
To encourage the student in their pursuit of drawing by offering various drawing experiments and experiences that precede observational drawing.
To help the student understand the concept of drawing.
To teach the basics of observational drawing in small increments.
To cater to the specific needs of the students in the particular class, moving forward at the appropriate pace.
To encourage the student to express their own uniqueness.
To give the student the necessary information and experiences that will enable them to create successful drawings independently. 
Materials Needed for this class: A basic drawing pad (any size) and #2 pencils are sufficient. The instructor will supply additional materials, as needed.
