The Veterans Day Parade will take place on Monday, November 12. Parade marchers will start forming at 9 a.m. at Wilson Park and the parade will start at 10 a.m.
The parade route will follow West Main Street to Brown Street to Boston Neck Road and then onto Fairway Drive to North Kingstown High School for the concluding ceremonies which are expected to begin at 11 a.m.
The lead element of the parade will stop on Boston Neck Road for a wreath laying ceremony at the Civil War Memorial by the Town Hall and Veterans Memorial Park for wreath laying- ceremonies to pay homage to those lost in the nation's armed conflicts.
ELEVENTH HOUR-ELEVENTH DAY-ELEVENTH MONTH
In keeping with the decades-long practice of remembering the armistice which ended the 1914-1918 Great War (now termed the First World War and World War I), there will be a wreath laying ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday at the World War Memorial at Updike Park in Wickford Village to mark the hour, day, and month of the cessation of hostilities.
In case of inclement weather, the event planned for Updike Park will still go forward at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The ceremonies planned for the Town Hall and Veterans Memorial Park will start at 11 a.m. on Monday.
