Andrew Maksymowicz was 19 years old when his father, Henry Joseph Maksymowicz, died of cancer. He was 26 a year ago when his mother died, also of cancer. It's an incomprehensible amount of loss for someone so young.

Sunil Tripathi, a 22-year old student at Brown University went missing last Saturday, March 16 around 11 am. He was last seen on the East Side of Providence, although the search has expanded to Boston, Connecticut, New York, and Philadelphia.

Fire Commissioners Won't Vote On Legislation To Abolish District; Union Will

Fire District Commission Chair Bill Daly said last week he has no plans to seek a vote from the commissioners on bills now pending before the General Assembly that seek to abolish the EGFD and replace it with a municipal fire department.

Unions Embrace 'Scare Tactics' in Coventry

State Rep. Patricia Morgan (R-Coventry, West Warwick, Warwick) blasted unions representing Central Coventry firefighters and the statewide AFL-CIO for trying to "scare" central Coventry residents into voting for a 36 percent fire district tax increase.

Texting Firefighter Charged With DUI

Sean P. Newton, 23, of 80 Brookwood Road, Wakefield, was arrested at about 7:10 p.m. on March 16 and charged with drunken driving and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police and Newton said he works for the Woonsocket Fire Department.

Fire District May Disband After Tax Levy Rejected

At the conclusion of a 4-hour voting period - the second vote regarding the Central Coventry Fire District's proposed fiscal 2012-2013 budget and tax levy in six weeks - taxpayers decided by a 1,357 to 484 vote margin to reject the budget and the accompanying tax levy of $2.99 per thousand of assessed property value.

Portsmouth Police Boat Causes Traffic Jam

A boat, belonging to the Portsmouth Police Department, somehow became loose from its trailer Thursday afternoon and fell off its trailer on Route 24. 

Friday, March 29

No Further Charges Filed Against Middletown Teacher

The Portsmouth Police Department announced they have concluded their investigation into 39-year-old Middletown High School teacher Patrick Aylward without filing further charges.
