Swain Misses Court Date to Appear on 'Today' Show

Once convicted of murdering his wife, David Swain reportedly missed a court date to appear on TV.

David Swain, once convicted of murdering his wife in the Caribbean more than a decade ago, reportedly missed a court date to appear on the "Today" show last week, according to the Providence Journal.

A former Jamestown councilor and drama coach, Swain moved to Massachusetts recently where he was arrested last Tuesday on motor vehicle charges. Instead of appearing in Milford District Court, however, Swain, 56, was in New York City filming a television appearance at NBC Studios for "Dateline" and the "Today" show.

Swain's attorney had reportedly asked the judge for a continuance, but was denied. After his no-show, a district court judge subsequently issued a warrant for Swain's arrest, which was lifted when Swain appeared in court this past Monday.

Swain was released from a Caribbean prison .

Swain recently moved to Franklin, MA after living in Portsmouth, RI following his release. Two months later in December 2011, Swain was charged with drunken driving in Portsmouth. Police in exchange for a guilty plea to refusing a chemical test. Swain was ordered to pay a $200 fine and various court costs.

In his interview with "Dateline," Swain told interviewer Willie Geist that he has been trying to "rebuild his life." He also said he still misses his wife "every single day."
