RI Under Flash Flood Warning Friday

A Flash Flood Watch continues for North Kingstown and much of the Southern New England area until Friday evening at 6 p.m.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may produce heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 inches per hour in isolated areas, is expected after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. A flash flood warning is in affect through 6 p.m. Friday.

Heavy rain is expected to result in urban and poor drainage flooding as well as some river rise.

If you are in areas prone to flooding, be aware of dangerous conditions that can occur with rapidly rising water. Do not drive through flooded roadways, keep children away from storm drains, and swollen rivers and streams can present hazards to persons using canoes and kayaks.
