Pet Of The Week: Melonie

This Snowshoe-Siamese cat is looking for a loving family willing to help with her illness.

Though most of the animals we feature on Pet of the Week are typically low maintenance, we're making an exception this week for a very special feline who desperately needs a loving and attentive home.

Meet Melonie, a gorgeous Snowshoe-Siamese cat who was recently diagnosed with feline immunodeficiency virus – the feline equivalent of HIV. Though Melonie can go on to live a normal life, she would need proper care and attention from her owners to do so.

Melonie is only about a year old and is an incredibly loving creature. Despite her illness, member of the remain confident that Melonie will be adopted because of her desirable breed, but want her new home to be with the right family.

Melonie is great with everyone, from kids to adults, but we suggest she be the only cat in the household to halt the spread of FIV to another cat. (FIV can only be transmitted between felines, not between cats and humans.) Melonie would also be a great companion for another FIV-positive cat.

Want to adopt Melonie? Contact the Pet Refuge at 294-1115.
