5 Things: Cooling Centers, Going to the Birds & More

Five things to know for June 21.

1.  It's going to be another scorcher in Rhody today. Temperatures will be in the 90s once again. If you're looking for an escape from the heat, NK has two cooling centers – Beechwood Senior Center (44 Beach St. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and the North Kingstown Free Library (100 Boone St. from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.) Personally, my cooling center starts with a "D" and ends with an "el's Frozen Lemonade."

2.  Does your yard needs some TLC? Head down to the on Saturday for a presentation on , featuring some master gardeners. Starts at 10 a.m. Please register for this event.

3.  Wickford's going to the birds this weekend. On Sunday, the village will be holding its first-ever bird event – featuring a total of nine live hawks, owls and falcons. Meet and learn about these birds of prey and enjoy an art show dedicated to – you guessed it – birds. Music will be provided by NK's own Hummingbird Trio. Get the details here.

5.  Today: sunny with highs near 95. Tonight: partly cloudy with lows around 71. Tomorrow: a chance of showers and thunderstorms with otherwise partly sunny skies and highs near 86.
